Each year you will need to find out when each entity’s tax return is due. It is important to know exactly when your return is due as late lodgements can incur interest charges and late lodgement penalties.

There are various due dates for the lodgement of an entity’s tax return. The due date can vary from year-to-year based on the size of your entity, the entity-type, and its lodgement history. Most tax returns are due on 31 October and 15 May each year following the end of the previous financial year.

If you lodge your tax return through a registered tax agent you generally have an extension to 15 May. You will need to submit your tax return by 31 October if you don’t lodge it through a registered tax agent. This gives you four months (from 1 July to 31 October) to prepare your own tax return. If you don’t have a tax agent but would like the extension to 15 May, you will need to register with a tax agent by 31 October

Your Registered Tax Agent can advise you of your specific lodgement due date, however, to help you find the due date of your tax return, Distinct Business Solutions have designed a free ‘2018 Tax Return Due Dates’ dates calendar. If the lodgement due date for your entity is not listed below, contact your Distinct Business Solutions for further information.
